Since I am in the U.S.A. and a lot of BL Publishing's authors are in the U.K., I always have an uncomfortable moment whenever I post a review on the U.K. site of Amazon or turn in a review to the man, Vincent Rospond, who handles the American sales.

Though I am used to the different spellings of many words (such as Center and Centre or Honor and Honour), I still write my reviews in the U.S.A. method. I fear that I will make simple/stupid errors if I try to write them any other way. Yet I cannot help but wonder how many people read those reviews on Amazon's U.K. site and give me a neggie vote because they believe I am filling the review with typos. (Though let me say right now that I really do not care of rankings and wish Amazon would get rid of the system.)

Do you, personally, believe that most people who read reviews catch on that the review may have been written by someone who spells things a bit differently? Or do you believe that only a few people actually understand? I am really clueless here. :?

I think this question require a more elaborate answer than Yes/No, so I am not going to make an actual poll. But I am very interested in any answers and discussions members would like to share with me.

I think most people understand the difference. I know I don't bat an eye when I see 'armour' instead of 'armor' anymore, for instance. The kind of idiot who would neggie a review for Americanized spellings probably has too much time and too few friends to begin with.

Perhaps also because English is not my native language, I don't mind whether people write in English-English or American-English. As my teachers told me many years ago: Just be consistent.
And as stated above: If some focus on your choise of english more than the review itself, then they have downgraded their own opinion.

Thank you for the feedback. I will take it to heart and just continue as I always have.
