Just started this old horror story anthology, published by Xerox in the 1960's edited by Vic Ghidalia (there's a name just waiting to be given to a Tilean wizard). The opening story is by Seabury Quinn, one of his Jules de Grandin tales tiled 'The Man in Crescent Terrace'. The rest of the anthology has stories by such greats as Robert Bloch, Frank Belknap Long and August Derleth. I'll be sure to let everyone know the final verdict when I'm finished with it.

Seabury Quinn was a big influence on Robert E Howard. A truly great place to find wonderful classic tales is in the digest Fantastic Tales of Imagination...especially the ones from the early sixties. 62 and 63 were more than great years. I have purchased several of these from ebay and they are excellent. Lots of stuff from J G Ballard, Robert Arthur, H Bedford Jones, Robert F Young, and many others. Some of the writers I've never heard of but they did great work. Those things usually can be found at very reasonable prices too. Heck, recently on ebay I bought the entire 1948 issue run of Amazing Stories for a whopping twenty bucks which included shipping! Many of these, the pages hadn't even yellowed! Four of them had the front covers removed...after a little research I found out that those had sexy space girls on the front and somebody's mom must have disapproved.

I'm sure they were tame compared to the stuff Weird Tales had on theirs.

haha...you got to believe that Robert E Howard loved those covers of girls whipping each other and stuff. Some of the books he left behind included some that featured that particular kind of entertainment.

Overall not a bad anthology, though a few of the stories are really stretching to count as 'mummy' tales and there is the inclusion of the comedic 'The Mummy's Foot', which I've never been a particular fan of.

I'm betting that writers in the comedic Mummy genre had to struggle to get their voices out there
