I just finished the 1st of Matt Forbeck's series: Blood Bowl
Sadly I was a bit disappointed, but thanks to another poster in this forum, I was prepared.
The story was OK, including a plot with some small surprizes and some cliches.
But choosing a Blood Bowl book over some Fantasy or another theme is most likely (as it was for me), because one wants to read about some lethal ballplayers doing their thing in game.
Of course there must be an intro, and quite some stuff in between games but the few games that actually are described more than just 2-line mentioning, are over in a few pages. That is simply not enough.
And the author seems to have trouble deciding whether one of the characters is an assistant coach or an active player. I suspect, that mr. Forbeck considered both options, but it is annoying that both are present. And more than once.
So as a BloodBowl player, I won't spend time on the rest of those books.
Sadly, because the writing skills of mr. Forbeck are fine.
Heh. Should write one myself
(Don't worry. I won't)
